Buffalo Wings & Rings Opens with a Bang in Bedford
Grand Opening Celebration this Saturday features $100 gift card giveaways, wing eating contests with local athletes, and much more...
Not even the snow hindered thousands of Bedford residents from trying the hot new Buffalo Wings & Rings restaurant that recently took flight in Bedford, IN last week. And the restaurant is prepared for even bigger numbers this weekend as it gears up for an exclusive Grand Opening Celebration Event this Saturday, January 29th. The doors will open at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and the first 100 customers (max two per family) will receive a FREE Buffalo Wings & Rings pint glass and t-shirt. Four of those pint glasses will have a $100 gift card inside!
The restaurant opened to quite a crowd on Wednesday, January 19th. Opening day included a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Bedford Chamber and Mayor Shawna Girgis. And the excitement continued through the weekend, where the restaurant achieved near-record sales results for the first few days of operation.
“Had it not been for the snow that moved in on Thursday, we probably would have broke a chain record for opening week sales!,” said Mike Weyer, franchise owner of Buffalo Wings & Rings Bedford. “The community has welcomed us with open arms, so we couldn’t be more pleased.”
Weyer and franchise partner Ann Bennett are enthusiastic about their Grand Opening Celebration Event this Saturday, most notably the afternoon wing eating contest between the athletes and coaches of Bedford North Lawrence High and rival Eastern Green. The festivities at the restaurant commence with a 4 p.m. check presentation to the BNL Star Boosters from proceeds of BW&R’s private VIP celebration that was held on January 17th . Then, football players, members of the girls’ basketball squads, coaches and fans from BNL and Eastern Green will spar against one another, in what’s sure to be some of the sloppiest competition of the year, in a four-round wing eating competition. The winner of it all receives a Buffalo Wings & Rings gift card, and most importantly, bragging rights for their school! The restaurant expects quite a crowd for the event, as many Eastern Green students, parents and faculty are in Bedford for the boys’ basketball games that evening, beginning at 6 p.m. at BNL.
The restaurant in Bedford is the chain’s sixth location in the state of Indiana, and the second Buffalo Wings & Rings for franchise partners Weyer and Bennett, who also own a successful location in Jasper. Having opened their Jasper location a little more than two years ago, and the two know what it takes to be a successful restaurant: quality people working among the four walls, and solid community partnerships outside those four walls. “We are excited to kick off our partnership with BNL this weekend,” said Weyer. “And we couldn’t be more pleased that neighboring Eastern Green student athletes, parents and faculty are involved as well. Supporting our local athletes will be a pillar to our success in Bedford.”
The Buffalo Wings & Rings menu features a wide array of fare suited to both adults and children, including traditional and boneless Buffalo-style wings, and hand-breaded chicken tenders – all available in nine sauces with five customizable levels of heat. Guests are encouraged to dunk their favorite wings in the Buffalo Wings & Rings homemade bleu cheese sauce. The menu also features massive burgers, salads, wraps, pitas and gyros, plus a full range of appetizers, including Buffalo Chicken Nachos, chili-drenched sloppy fries, quesadillas and mozzarella sticks. And who can forget the “little buffs?” A full kids menu is available as well.
Bedford and surrounding areas enjoy these Buffalo Wings & Rings favorites alongside sporting events on several dozen televisions, featuring full access to NFL games, UFC events, NBA matches, IU and other college sports, and much more. The family-friendly, sports-orientated atmosphere lends itself to being “the place” family and friends gather to catch up and connect while enjoying the game.
